About this Blog

Welcome to the blog I will keep as I head abroad for a year in Haifa, Israel. I have been awarded a Fulbright scholarship to compare the prosodic systems in American Sign Language and Israeli Sign Language. If all goes well and I can get the work done efficiently, I will also have time to do a preliminary look into Al-Sayyid Bedouin Sign Language prosody as well.

Each post in this blog is labelled according to the audience I have in mind for that entry, and the list of the "Labels" is available in the right column along with a search box. A list of each entry title and date is also available in the left column for your browsing pleasure.

Welcome and Bruchim Habaim.

A Slight Absence

My computer broke down the Friday during Sukkot. It has been quite an adventure to find a place willing to work on an Apple that was bought outside of Israel, but it is now (a week and a half later, since I had to wait for the holidays to finish) dropped off at what I hope is the right place, and I was told they will text me (in Hebrew) within 10 business days to let me know what the next step is.

Since it just completely switched off in the middle of my using it, and won't turn back on at all, not even pretty little lights on the keyboard, I'm guessing it's the battery. So, hopefully it will be a rather quick fix and I'll be back up and running soon. :)

  1. Well, when you get back I'll still be here. And thanks to your computer issues.... I'm all caught up on your blog! :) Hope the new apartment living is going well!
    Joy :)
